Frosty’s List - The Inspiration

2020 has been a life-changing year for me. I know it has been so for everyone, and each of us have our own story to tell about this incredible time.

Our 2020 started with a bang. We moved from London to Sydney with my fiancée in the end of January, then the pandemic hit and the start of our new life in Australia changed completely. When international and domestic borders closed it meant hotels, hospitality and travel operators went into hibernation mode, not only in Australia, but also globally. Essentially, the industry I have worked in and loved for over a decade was in standstill.

While job-hunting, like many others, I got into creative projects and educational online masterclasses. I learnt new skills for personal as well as professional growth and tried to make the most of life slowing down. Six months into my official job search, I am currently working as a casual at a local business and have decided I want to make something out of this challenging time.

I love eating at home and in restaurants! While living in London, researching new places to eat and drink became a passion of mine. I started a restaurant wish-list which kept on growing faster than I could tick off those that I had been to! For me a good restaurant experience is more than a popular restaurant that everyone is talking about; it is the full experience of knowing where to go, how to get there, insider tips of what to order, service, atmosphere and of course delicious food!

In addition to food and drink, I have passion for the outdoors and exploring different destinations far and near. Working in the hotel world for many years has given me the eye to find quirky independent hotels as well as homely cabins. I love conscious design and spaces that are pleasing for the eye and soul.

Being in a new country means that I have started not only noting down places to eat, but also places to visit. Although there are multiple articles you can skim through and varied tourism bodies/organisations that list local hotels and restaurants, it is hard to find one source of truly visit-worthy authentic places to eat, drink, experience and explore. From my travels around the world, I have a long list of amazing places I have collated throughout the years - why not share them?!

So Frosty’s List was created!

I plan to share itineraries for long weekends, restaurant finds, hidden gems and must visit spots in destinations I have been to myself. As we are currently living in a time of restrictions, I may even share my “wish-list” of places I want to go to when the world opens up to exploration once again.

I hope you find inspiration from my feed to explore the world and visit local haunts. Whatever you do, always remember to stop and smell the roses!
